Task 3 - Illustrative and & Visual Narrative

Image
Lecture Reflection (3-Act Structure & Narrative Theory + Transition) For this task, I applied the 3-act structure to create my comic. The first act introduces the main character standing in a field while looking at a mysterious dark circle in the sky. This represents confusion and curiosity, setting up the emotional tone of the story. The second act develops the story by showing the character on a van under the night sky. This scene symbolizes movement and change, showing that the character has begun her journey to discover herself. The final act resolves the story with the character turning back and smiling. This shows acceptance and peace, suggesting personal growth after facing uncertainty. For transitions, I used Moment-to-Moment and Scene-to-Scene transitions . The first to second panel shifts from stillness to movement, while the second to third panel shows emotional progression and resolution.   Tutorial Reflection (Masking, Texture & Editable Tex...

Illustration and Visual Narrative

25/5/2026 - 21/6/2026 / (Week 6 - Week 9) Khaitov Ismoildzhon / 0394242 IVN / BDCM / Taylor's University Task 2   LECTURES Visual shots This lecture explains that composition is the art of arranging elements to tell a story and guide the viewer . It highlights four core rules for effective visuals: visual narrative matches elements to the story's theme ; visual flow creates a path to direct where the audience looks ; visual balance keeps the scene stable across the frame ; and visual hierarchy uses focus and detail to signal what is most important . Finally, it introduces six standard camera shots: establishing shots define the setting ; bird's eye views create a towering perspective ; frame within a frame adds depth ; medium shots capture the human figure ; close-ups emphasize intimate emotions ; and worm's eye views make the subject appear powerful . Perspective This lecture defines perspective as the art of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimen...

Task1 - TypeExpFrame

KHAITOV ISMOILDZHON(0394242) Final Type Expressions   For this week's Type Expression exercise, I was tasked with interpreting four words — Smile, Balance, Radiant, and Free — using different typefaces and visual design elements to communicate each word's meaning beyond just the letter forms themselves. Through this exercise, I began to understand how different fonts carry their own emotional weight. For example, using Futura Std Book Oblique for 'Smile' felt appropriate because its clean, geometric yet slightly slanted form gives it a light and friendly quality. Adobe Caslon Pro Bold for 'Balance' reinforced the concept through its strong, structured serif letter forms paired with symmetrical vertical bars that visually echo the idea of equilibrium. For 'Radiant', New Baskerville Std Italic brought an elegance and warmth that matched the word's meaning, framed within a bowtie shape that suggests light expanding outward. Finally, Bembo Std for 'F...

“My DPI results and processes demonstrate a clear development of ideas from the initial stage to the final outcome. The work shows effort in experimenting with different layouts, techniques, and compositions throughout the process. However, further refinement in presentation and consistency would help strengthen the overall quality of the final design.”     Task 2 : Photo Manipulation 1.Started the artwork by cutting the flower heads       2. Added cotton pads and decided to apply some shade         3. Finalized the work by adding leaves to add more realism

Typography - Practical Task: Exercises

“My sketches were accepted, but there are still several areas that need improvement. The concept has potential, however the composition and typography arrangement should be refined further. For the next stage, focus on digitalising the work neatly and improving the overall balance, readability, and presentation to create a stronger final outcome.”

Typography - Feedback of my works

Feedback from Lecturer During the consultation session, my initial typographic explorations were rejected as the compositions relied too much on decorative ideas rather than expressing the meaning through typography itself. The lecturer advised me to focus more on experimentation with letterforms, spacing, composition, hierarchy, and visual balance instead of adding unnecessary graphical elements. I was also encouraged to: - produce a larger variety of thumbnail sketches - explore more dynamic arrangements - improve the relationship between form and meaning - avoid overly literal or illustrative approaches - push the typography further through distortion, scaling, rotation, and spacing Based on the feedback received, I decided to restart my sketch explorations and develop stronger concepts that communicate the words more effectively using typography alone Here are some of my artworks:
